Breast Cancer Diagnosis

After my breast cancer diagnosis, I would like to say I turned to the Lord, but I didnít. Instead, I read everything I could get my hands on about breast cancer. I felt like I was cramming for the most important exam of my life. And I questioned why God allowed this to happen, now that my new husband and I were so happy. Hadnít God just promised that He had a wonderful plan for my life and Bobís? I also questioned what I had done to get cancer -- maybe too much coffee, or wine, or stress, or the estrogen therapy I had been on for five years since my hysterectomy. I felt terrible that I was going to put Bob through another battle with cancer. He had just lost his daughter to the disease.

When I received my breast cancer diagnosis, I should have claimed this oneÖ

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
(Proverbs 3:5-8)

Weeping may endure for a night,
but joy comes in the morning.
(Psalm 30:5)

They that sow in tears,
shall reap in joy.
(Psalm 126:5)

A Prayer for the Breast Cancer DiagnosisÖ

When rough the path from day to day,
When sorrows fill our eyes with tears,
Our choice to find our joy in Christ
Can soothe our soul and calm our fears.
